                  
Organised foreign gangs are operating with impunity overseas to rob the British people of a staggering £200 million every year. In many cases they target the elderly, pressurising vulnerable individuals into surrendering life savings and with it any chance of a dignified end to hard-working lives. For some people, those lives will end prematurely. For almost all, it will end in misery.
In 2010 alone, successive evidence was uncovered that recorded details of nearly 100,000 often older UK residents who have or will be targeted. Yet with the number of terrorised Brits in the hundreds of thousands and with more than £1bn hijacked from the UK every parliament, where is the 'war on terror' to compare with over £3bn spent every year in Iraq and Afghanistan?
It doesn't seem to matter that this misery funds organised overseas criminals and in some cases even terror activity. It doesn't matter that the money flows into economies as familiar to us as Spain and the USA. Britain, a country that has exercised its' foreign policy for centuries, suddenly seems unable - or unwilling - to fight back at the heart of this Boiler Room and Recovery Room activity.
                  
The Police initiative setup to tackle Boiler Room fraud is struggling to cope with its' demand and causing confusion for its victims - that's according to a leading campaign for Boiler Room action. UKCobra has monitored online discussion of the City of London Police's 'Operation Archway' and understands that whilst welcome, the scheme is ill-equipped to cope with the volume of crime.
The operation is a national reporting system with just five day-to-day staff and no public contact. It's website has not been updated since September 2010 and it informs users that it won't investigate individual crimes and to contact local police forces. But victims routinely complain that regional forces express confusion and are unable to help - often referring back to their London counterparts.
